On the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture, in front of the building that was used as a detention and torture center during the dictatorship, and which today houses the headquarters of the government of the Community of Madrid, various entities gathered to demand an end to impunity.
Andrea Galán, a psychologist from the Sira Center, spoke on June 26th at the rally against impunity for crimes committed during the Franco regime, an event organized by "La Comuna Presxs" (The Prisoners' Commune) to mark the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture. The psychologist emphasized both the lasting effects of torture on individuals, whose scars remain in some cases more than 40 years later, and the courage of those who suffered repression and who continue to denounce the human rights violations they endured, demanding justice.
»"For the moment, impunity continues; however, the gift you have given by sharing your testimonies is invaluable, going beyond the legal sphere.".
»"Your life stories are recorded so that they can become part of our collective memory, and with it, heal as a society.".
